7 reasons why iPhone 3G sucks
Though the iPhone 3G is a hit, it still has many glaring shortcomings. We try to list some of the most significant ones.
The 7 main reasons why the iPhone 3G sucks are,
1. The Contract.
You have to purchase an AT&T contract in order to be able to activate your new iPhone 3G. In the long run, it turns out to be much more expensive than the original iPhone. All the $199 talk was just a marketing gimmick by Apple after all.
There are iPhones being sold without contracts but they are still very expensive at $599 / $699 and are locked to AT&T’s network anyways. So you still have to suck up to AT&T and choose from its crappy plans. Of course, there are other ways but we ain’t talking about them here.
2. The Camera.
After all the iPhone bashing, it turns out that Apple hasn’t yet learnt to consider customer feedback and has brought back the same crappy 2 MP cam in the iPhone 3G. Yea, no Flash, No Auto Focus and of course, No video recording. No advanced manual settings. It doesn’t even have a front facing VGA cam for Video calls over 3G.
3. No Multitasking.
With all that powerful hardware packed under that sleek body, OS X limitations still dont allow a decent Multitasking experience. Apple expects that all iPhone users are noobs who just like to run one application at a time. Great going, Apple!
4. A complete waste of Bluetooth.
You still can’t send your documents, media and other files over Bluetooth to other phones. You cant sync your files over Bluetooth. Add to that, the absence of A2DP. Apple expects you to use Bluetooth just for super cool & exciting tasks like talking on the iPhone using a Bluetooth headset.
5. No MMS.
You can’t send Multimedia messages through the iPhone just for the simple reason that Mr.Jobs thinks that no one should use MMS any more. So what if it is an extremely popular feature for media sharing and every 3rd person on Earth would like to use it. However this reason doesn’t hold out much anymore because email is becoming increasingly popular for file sharing on mobile phones. But having MMS wouldn’t have hurt, surely.
6. The Touchscreen keyboard.
The only way you can expect to use the iPhone’s Touchscreen keyboard accurately & efficiently is if you have fingers the size of Frodo’s or if you undergo surgery to make them thinner. It takes a bit too long to get used to tapping the keys on its virtual keyboard comfortably, in case you have normal human fingers. And there is no alternative as well. Also there is no option to select / cut / paste text yet.
7. No Flash support.
The Safari browser on the iPhone still doesn’t support Flash animations or videos. As a majority of the videos on the internet are in Flash, this means that iPhone users will miss out on a lot of content. However to watch Youtube videos you can use the Youtube App.
Bonus reason :
The iPhone 3G just adds more to the already overflowing pool of overzealous, annoying and idiot fanboys. They want you to believe that the iPhone is the best phone ever and if you point out the list of features where it lacks, they just say that those features simply suck and no one wants them anymore. All iPhone features become super cool for them, even if they have been implemented by a gazillion other phones ages ago.
Adding to the above 7 reasons, the battery of the 3G iPhone cannot be removed. You dont get the dock bundled with the phone anymore, you have to buy it separately for $30. It does not have FM. The battery life is not too decent. Also there are many other phones that provide most of the features iPhone provides, in a much better way and are way cheaper than the iPhone 3G. Having said all this, we would still like to assert that the iPhone has revolutionized the smart phone world. Following the iPhone’s release, many other manufacturers started focusing more on the interface – its usability and design, than other unimportant things. No wonder, every new smart phone is compared to the iPhone these days. However, just the superb MultiTouch interface doesn’t justify the lack of other essential features, mentioned above, in the iPhone 3G even after getting repeated feedback from the iPhone users .

.1 In Holland the iPhone contract is cheaper than any other contract.
.2 I hate phone camera’s because they ALL SUCK so I would never buy a PHONE because of the camera.

.6 Keyboard is easy to learn. No Cut and Paste SUCKS!

I wonder how nobody has yet noticed that the 3g iPhone has a bad lcd. the fonts are blurry and the images are not as sharp as they used to be.

Another reason it sucks is because apple decided to screw everyone who had invested in an expensive dock or home wall system, by not being able to charge the phone on the older docks—which worked just great with the older iphone and were officially authorized by apple.

You can’t install GTALK App or Yahoo Messenger App like i used to do on my blackberry curve. I got my iphone today and beleive me after using blackberry for so many months,I am liking iphone..it sucks in many ways..cant listen to music on ur bluetooth,no gtalk or yahoo..u hav eto use as on browser..when u clos eht browser u are logged out of the messenger…it sucks big time….no bluetooth fiel transfer…no voice dailing…tons of feature which my blackberry does like a cake….BLACKBERRY WINS MILLION TIME BY IPHONE……..

iPhone 3G and pine-Apple suck… I Have been using it for the last week and I am serioursly thinking of taking it back. Reception is poor, speed is excruciatingly slow (even for wifi). It doens’t support greek (so my greek nokia/outlook contacts cannot be searched - at least they are viewable). It doesn’t suppoer sms reports, mms.
I really want to roll back to my N95. Nokia rulez. Period. Every other mobile manufacturer should ask Nokia for permission to use the name “Mobile Phone” for their products.
The only thing I Like about the iphone is the big screen and multitouch capabilities. With this in mind, web experience is better on the iPhone (much closer to a desktop web experience).
Ok i get it. It’s a phone. So? It’s 2008! For someone used to european mobile services, the quality of service of AT&T and the features of the iPhone are soooo limited. DID I mention that it’s SLOWWWWWW??? 3G/Wifi my ar$e.
Sorry for that, but I spent 200 USD plus a 100USD/month plan (than doenst include anything) for an iPod. Too bad I can’t use it efficiently (I mean one can devise ways but yet again…irritating performance ) to use skype/VOIP over the crappy 3G/wifi connection. Thank would have make it to worth somehting.

My iphone has NEVER worked properly. After weeks of back and forth with ATT and Apple, it’s been determined that I have an antennae issue -a defined hardware problem and Apple want me to pony up ANOTHER $30 for a replacement. So they get to make a faulty product and then have the nerve to charge me to fix their mistake. No more Apple products in this office!

Oh man I just have to vent….this is the worst serious devil phone ever…LOL It has so may “glitches” and decides that “it” wants to work it’s so fu&^ing annoying. I have thrown mine and smashed down on the screen today so hard that I broke a blood vessel and it’s now black and blue..no kidding. My 3g has now decided that it no longer wishes to update my email when I select the IN box or SPAM…it will just pull up 4 emails and then makes you select the “download more” and then it just sits there and does NOTHING…oh and if you try delete any emails it says “unable to move” it should say “unable to move because I’m a piece of crap”..LOL Oh and don’t even talk about the spotty call quality and the fact that if someone was to look at your phone log it would look like your a stalker due to you having to call someone back 10 times in 20 min… Oh this is the worst thing ever and I soooo want to try the Blackberry Storm…not so good looking but at least it will work.
