Antec Notebook Cooler
We have reviewed many notebook PCs here on Digit Geek but haven’t talked about how to keep them cool.Cooling is an important aspect that is overlooked upon when buying a notebook PCs unlike when buying a desktop PC.In a notebook PC all the components are stuffed in a small space and thus cooling is not very efficient.Excessive heating can lower the life of your notebook PC so it is important to buy an appropriate laptop cooler. Antec has big reputation in making excellent
cooling accessories an Antec notebook cooler is no exception.
Antec Notebook Cooler specifications:
- Dimensions : 13″ x 11″ x 1″
- Weight: 720 gms
- Voltage/Current: 5V/0.4A
- Power Consumption: 2W
- Fans: 2 x 70 mm
- No batteries/power adapter needed
- 2 double ball bearing
- USB powered
- 25.9 dB noise production
The cooler is powered by USB and the loss of a USB port is compensated by a USB port provided on the cooler. The cooler has been equipped with two fans which suck the heat generated by your notebook PC and dissipate it away. The cooler fits snugly to the bottom of your laptop but it does not have extended surface that you can use for other purposes like as a mouse pad etc.
The cooler measure 13″ x 11″ and is 1″ deep which are pretty small dimensions for a laptop cooler. The cooler will fit perfectly into all most laptops without anything visible bulging out of the bottom though some 12″ ones might face that problem.Antec has put some thought into the design and given it a nice with “amoeba” kind of design and color combination of silver and black that will complement most laptops. Small dimensions making it a perfect companion to take along with you while travelling also as it can fit into laptop bags also easily.
One of the downsides of the cooler is that it uses a proprietary USB cable to connect to the USB port which will be very hard to find in case you lose it.The low height of the cooler makes it easy for the user to adjust himself again to using the keyboard on the notebook.
The Antec notebook cooler does it job perfectly and quietly. It will manage to reduce the heat dissipation of your notebook by about 5 degrees celsius under full load. The cooler costs a measly 30 odd dollars and comes with 3 year warranty from Antec.
