Area51 7500Computer gaming has been around since the stone age. Well, maybe not that long but it definitely has been around for a while. Desktops now-a-days have dual graphics cards, loads of ram and a fast processor, but the one thing almost all gaming computers have is an awesome case. Alienware is known for its gaming desktops. They look cool and they’re very fast.

The Area-51 7500 is Alienwares entry level desktop. The top end version of it features the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, Nvidia SLI dual graphics cards, up to 4TB of storage and Blu-ray Disc Technology. This type of machine doesn’t come cheap however, the top-end version will set you back almost $10k

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the 7500:

  • Street price: $1399
  • Intel® Core™2 Extreme
  • NVIDIA® SLI™ Dual Graphics
  • Up to 4GB 800MHz DDR2 Memory
  • Up to 4TB of Storage
  • Blu-ray Disc Technology

Auroa 7500Things I like
Alienware knows how to make a decent computer. The 7500 looks like a mean gaming machine and it definitely performs like one. The first thing I like is the amount of storage you can have. With the ability to have upto 4TB of hard drive space you can store anything you could ever want on this computer. Since I like to edit videos this means I can store a tonne of raw footage of video without worrying about the space going away.

The other thing I like is PSU that is included within this computer. The base computer comes with a 750W power supply and you can upgrade to 1000W of pure power. This means you have the ability to upgrade to your hearts desire without worrying about not having enough power. The design of the case is another cool thing. The case looks like a gaming machine and I wouldn’t be ashamed to bring it to a LAN party or sit it on top of my desk.

Things I don’t like
The thing I don’t like about the 7500 is that it is more expensive than most other computers. It seems to me that Alienware isn’t the quickest company when it comes to updating their prices. For $1300 you get: Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB ram, 250GB hard drive and a Nvidia 8600GT graphics card. While this is a great computer you can easily get the same specifications for at least $200 cheaper from a different maker.

Pros:

  • Lots of space to store your data
  • 1000W means you can upgrade to your hearts desire
  • The case looks cool

Cons:

  • More expensive than other companies

Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a cool looking gaming computer the Area-51 7500 is for you. It features a fast processor, lots of ram, lots of hard drive space and a really cool looking case. It is however, a little more expensive than a computer with the same specifications from a different company. I would recommend this computer because I really enjoyed gaming on it.
