Bose On-Ear Headphones
Headphones come in many different shapes and sizes. There are the in-ear kind, dj style and a number of different kinds in between. There are also a number of different makers, Sennheiser, Skullcandy, Panasonic and Bose. The king of all headphones is definitely Bose though.
The Bose On-Ear Headphones are the creme of the crop, offering high quality, comfortable feeling headphones that will “blow your socks” so to say.
The headphones are a little expensive but the sound that comes out of of is definitely worth it. You’re paying for the high quality that Bose puts into every single pair of headphones that they make.
Here are a few of the technical specifications for the Bose On-Ear Headphones:
- Street price: $179.99
- 1.5m cord
- Carrying Case
Things I like
The Bose On-Ear Headphones are like listening to heaven. They are by far the best headphones I have ever listened to. These phones are not noise-cancelling models, but they still block out a noticeable amount of noise. You can wear these in a
room and block out the noise of cars outside, the A/C, etc, while still being able to hear someone speak to you. I’m no audiophile so I can’t say anymore about the sound other than that it is terrific. It definitely is a balanced sound, with the bass at a perfect level and not too-overpowering. The trebles also come out pretty clear too. The bad thing about the sound quality is it really emphasizes how badly compressed some of my mp3s have become, which may not be a good thing if you don’t have the original CDs for some of your music.
Things I don’t like
The thing I don’t like about the On-Ear headphones is the price and the build quality. These headphones while sounding amazing feel very cheap. I was worried about breaking them every single time I placed them over my head. If they were even a little sturdier I wouldn’t worry as much but because they cost over $150 I want everything to be perfect. Other than this I don’t have a problem with these headphones.
Pros:
- Amazing Sound
- Long cord
Cons:
- Expensive
- Cheap feel
Final Thoughts
If you have the money I totally advise you buying these headphones. The sound quality is absolutely amazing and you won’t be disappointed. They are however really expensive and they feel fairly cheap to the touch so I wouldn’t use them for heavy activities. I totally recommend the Bose On-Ear Headphones.

“I’m no audiophile so I can’t say anymore about the sound other than that it is terrific”
That’s just what I want when buying a $150 set of headphones - someone who knows nothing about sound!

I know a lot more about sound than your average consumer. I could tell you the difference between a song with a bit rate of 128kbps and 196kbps.
That being said I have a number of friends in the music business who are audiophiles and I don’t know nearly enough compared to them.
The bottom line is that these headphones are probably the top three on the market right now for under $200.

I first discovered this headphones about 5 years ago and by that time I thought they rocked! I thought of saving money in order to buy them ’cause I really liked them. however I must admit that I am a cheap person and spending 100+ dollars on the headphones would involve a lot of regret if at the end I wasn’t completely happy with my choice. So I began my research and I found a lot of BOSE bashing in specialized forums (you know, the ones that are full of geeky people trying to convince you that they rule the world). Of course I was then a little hesitant about spending my money, so I took note of some of the brands that this people were bragging about and decided to try some of them. I am certainly glad I did so, I took advantage of the “satisfaction guaranteed” scheme of the BOSE and order them, then and I headed out to my local guitar center and compare them with some of the “good” brands like Sennheiser, Grados and Koss. My overall opinion now is that although the BOSE might be comfortable and have a “special” sound you can definitely get comparable (if not superior) sound and spend less than half the bucks. Again this is a subjective opinion and I am biased towards the “cheap” end. So far I am more than pleased with my $56.24 Sennheiser EH 350 and happy that I did not end up paying more than $100.
