Dell monitors are some of the best value for money monitors that you can buy. Dell apart from their laptops also excels in making monitors that are better than the rest. Dell SP2208WFP is one of the latest creations from Dell which is a 22-inch wide screen LCD that delivers rich performance and a really affordable price.

The Dell SP2208WFP has a simplistic design which does not have any fancy buttons and stuff. One can find the 2.0 megapixel camera above the display screen on the bezel. The base has been made of black color but the bezel is white with its sides as black. Overall a nice color combination, although a fully black bezel has its own charm. The LCD also has a couple of USB ports along the sides and another two located at the bottom. A drawback is that the height of the LCD is not adjustable and it can’t also be swivel.

The LCD has a set of five buttons used for powering on/off the LCD and navigating through the menus. The base of the display is quite stable unlike some of the LCDs where it tends to topple with a mere push! It also gives you the option to change the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 also. The input options include DVI-D, HDMI and VGA which is all you will need. Although the LCD has HDCP support but due to low native resolution, you won’t be able to watch 1080p videos without having to scale them down.

The performance of the display is excellent to say the least. The brightness and contrast on the display are quite apt thought in some cases you will find the brightness to be a too high. You can set pre-defined modes also but they aren’t that good and nothing beats a custom setting. The viewing angle is decent enough for a 22″ screen. The videos turn out rich,vivid and smooth. Ghosting effect is virtually non-existent on the display. No speakers on the display are a bit of disappointment.

The display comes with a three-year warranty and Advanced Exchange Program which is extremely good as you get the replacement the next business day in case your piece goes kaput.

Final Thoughts

The Dell Sp2208WFP is a brilliant display and complete value for money. Although it does have its own shortcomings but they are only minor and not related to its performance. You won’t find too many better display than this in the 22″ category. So go ahead and buy this one.
