Gaming has become a very popular pastime for computer users. New games like Crysis, Call of Duty 4 and a number of other great games are demanding the best graphics cards and really good computers to run them. The one thing that a game doesn’t require is a decent monitor to play them on, but I guarantee you if your monitor isn’t great you’ll regret it.
The Hanns-G2 HW-223DPB 22″ Widescreen LCD monitor will make your gaming experience, and you normal computer experience, that much better. This monitor sports a spectacular 1680 x 1050 WSXGA+ resolution, 1000:1 contrast, 300-nit brightness, along with a fast 5ms response time. This means that any games, movies or anything else you decide to look at will look its best on this massive screen.
Here are a few of the technical specifications for the HW-223DPB
- Street price: $250
- Diagonal Size: 22 in
- Max Resolution: 1680 x 1050
- Response time: 5 ms

Things I like
This screen is massive! Now I was used to my 15″ laptop screen for a very long time so moving up to a 22″ was a large step but I must say that the screen is very large. Most 22″ monitors aren’t true 22″ because they don’t measure that full 22″ diagonally, but the Hanns-G monitor does. I must say that I’m very impressed with the HW-223 monitor. It was rather cheap compared to most othe rmonitors of the same size and it came with a number of great features. I really like the fact that there are 4 USB 2.0 ports included with the monitor. This means that you can easily connect iPod’s or external harddrives without having to get on your knees and plug the cords into the back of your computer.
I really like the brightness of this computer as well. It lightens up my entire room even on its darkest of settings.
Things I don’t like
I don’t like the included speakers at all. The sound that comes out of them sounds rather weak and faded. I think that the speakers should have been put on the front of the monitor instead of the back because you can really tell that the sound is coming from the back and it just sounds a little off. This really isn’t that big of a problem as long as you have a set of dedicated speakers.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- 4 USB ports
- Very bright
- Very large
Cons:
- Poor sound quality
Final Thoughts
If you’re in need of a new monitor and you don’t want to drop your life savings on a high-end one then I suggest you pick up a Hanns·G HW-223DPB 22″ Widescreen LCD Monitor. The included USB ports are nice as well as the size, brightness and picture quality.
