HP dv6516tx Notebook PC

Searching for a good notebook PC has become a tough job these days with many brands coming out with their latest laptops.HP is one such company which recently introduced the HP dv6516tx laptop under its dv6500 series. This laptop is aimed at home users who need cutting edge technology to go about their task be it gaming,audio/video editing, graphics designing etc.

Here the specs of the laptop:HP dv6516tx Notebook PC

  • Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T5250
    1.50 GHz , Level 2 cache 2 MB, 667 MHz Bus speed
  • 2048 MB DDR2 RAM
  • 160 GB SATA HDD
  • Lightscribe Super Multi DVD Writer (+/-R +/-RW) with Double Layer support
  • 15.4″ WXGA High Definition BrightView Widescreen (1280×800)
  • NVIDIA® GeForce 8400M GS
  • Street Price: Rs. 55,900

The notebook comes bundled with a remote which is very handy while watching movies and giving presentations. Some other cool features include fingerprint reader which keeps you laptop safe and secure.

The touchpad is a bit too smooth for my liking and I would recommend getting a mouse instead. The display screen is bright, sharp and crisp and renders excellent details in HD movies. The keyboard is very ergonomic making typing very easy. The webcam although is 1.3MP but gives good enough pics. This laptop also has a HDMI port making it future proof.

The 2GB memory is enough for any task be it gaming, encoding, ripping etc. The processor is good enough for day to day tasks and also gaming but there are definitely better processors in the market if you need to do heavy audio/video encoding stuff. The graphics are good enough to run Windows Vista Aero and PS but don’t expect wonders in gaming! The laptop has a Western Digital hard disk and I was disappointed as it is not as fast as I expected it to be. The battery backup is decent enough at 3 hours. Though the DVD writer is Lighscribe compatible, you will find it hard to get lighscribe disks.

Pros:

  • 2GB RAM
  • DX10 Compatible graphics card
  • HDMI port
  • Lightscribe DVD Writer
  • Remote Control

Cons:

  • Too smooth touchpad
  • Low processing power
  • Not good enough for hardcore gamers
  • Bit bulky

Final Thoughts

It is one of the few good laptops available in the market which manages to get most things in place. It has its share of pros and cons so check out them before taking the plunge.
