HP Officejet J6480 Review
HP Officejet series is hugely popular among the masses and a best selling series. HP Officejet J6480 is a low cost solution for small to medium size business looking at host of features without compromising on the performance. It is an All-in-One(AIO) device that does everything from autoduplexing, faxing, scanning, auto document feeder, photo finishing and even wireless networking. All these features are hard to find in a sub $200 printer.

The dimensions of the printer are on the larger side but the height is low at just 10 inches. It also does not have folding trays which increases its footprint. The design on the printer is stylish and the white and gray panels with glossy black cockpit blend well with the decor. The buttons are placed keeping navigation in mind and has shortcuts to all the major functions. It also has a two-line LCD which displays variety of information including toner levels, system preferences etc.
The front panel also has a card reader and a wireless On/Off button. PictBridge support is missing from the device though. The printer has built-in wireless 802.11g networking allowing you to connect computers wirelessly. HP’s Photosmart Essential and Solution Center is the bundled software which lets you organise your digital photos as well as perform printer functions such as scanning, faxing and printing.
The scanner has Optical Character Recognition(OCR) which can recognise text within graphics and allows you to save it as editable text. OCR isn’t perfect but works well for a large number of fonts. The performance of the printer is good if not great. It has excellent printing speed but when it comes to photos it loses all its steam. The printed pages turn out extremely well with sharp text and graphics.
Pros :
Great design- Autoduplexer,ADF
- Optical Character Recognition
- Wireless networking
- Good performance
Cons :
- No PictBridge support
- Slow photo prints
Final Thoughts
The HP Officejet J6480 is a great offering at a low budget. It packs in quite a number of high-end features and manages to pull off good performance too. This would be a great budget printer for small to medium business.
