HP Pavilion dv6600
HP has been known for their low-cost feature packed laptops for a while know. A number of their series now feature blu-ray players or 3GB or ram or hard drives over 200GB but one thing that they all have in common is the prices are all under $2000.
The HP Pavilion dv6600 is no different. The 6600 has a number of great features like Core 2 Duo processor, it’s expandable to 4GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400M graphics card, and an integrated webcam and microphone.
The 6600 has been around for a few years now so you can get all of this for a low price, even though it’s fairly fast.
Here are a few of the technical specifications for the 6600:
- Street price: $800 approx.
- Core 2 Duo processors @ 1.83 GHz
- Bluetooth Wireless Technology
- 1GB of RAM and 120GB hard drive
- NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Things I Like
The thing I like the most about the 6600 is it’s low price. At $800 this laptop is one of the most affordable ones that you can get. This laptop has a number of great things all for this low price. The other thing I like about the 6600 is the quick-play buttons along the top. With a touch of the button you can launch a number of programs or change the volume of the laptop. The design of the laptop is nice as well but it’s nothing to call home about.
The laptop also has a number of wireless features like 802.11A/B/G and Bluetooth, so no matter how you want to connect to the web you can with the 6600.
Things I don’t like
Honestly other than the fact that there are a number of laptops that have much better specs there really isn’t anything I dislike about this laptop. The battery life isn’t great (around 2.5 hours) and the battery will die rather quickly but in general its a well built laptop. I like the 6600 and can’t find anything wrong with it.
Pros:
- Very affordable
- A number of wireless options
- Quick-play buttons
Cons:
- Poor battery
Final Thoughts
If you’re in need of a cheap high-quality laptop the HP Pavilion dv6600 is definitely a good choice. It has a relatively fast processor, the support for a large amount of RAM and a relatively large hard drive. It’s a great laptop and I would totally recommend it if you need one.

I personally have dv6635en and it’s a great laptop. It even has a fingerprint reader which i like most. These HP Pavilions are also very good gaming computers. Mine also runs Supreme Commander on medium settings or Unreal Tournament 3 on high settings.

Forgot to say that the battery doesn’t bother me. 2.5h is enough for me. Also dv6635en has the remote control which you can use to control the Media Center.
