Jabra BT620s Review
Jabra is renowned world over for making great bluetooth headsets which encompass a range of budgets and features. The Jabra BT620s is one of their newer creations which is placed in the mid budget category. It is essentially a stereo bluetooth headset compatible with any device which supports the Bluetooth A2DP and optionally the AVRCP profile. A bluetooth stereo headset is a must have these days, for all those music addicts who don’t want to be shackled by wires. However they underperform when compared to their wired counterparts when it comes to sound quality. That is soon changing with many bluetooth headsets offering superb sound quality. In this review, we check whether the Jabra BT620s is a viable option and a good buy.
Jabra BT620s Specs:
- Type: Behind the neck
- Battery life: 14 Hours (music)
- Weight: 100 gms
- Bluetooth: Version 1.2 with A2DP and AVRCP
- Price: $50 Approx
Design:
The Jabra BT620s is a stylish and cool, behind-the-neck kind of headset. It feels very comfortable and the neckband is quite flexible. The neckband is black while the earcups are silver. The headset weighs just about 100 gms which is a bit heavy compared to many other bluetooth headsets. But they don’t feel very bulky thanks to the nice design. The build quality is quite good and can manage some amount of rough handling. All in all, a cool and comfortable design with nothing much to complain about.
Performance:
The Jabra BT620s offers good stereo sound quality reproducing sound with little or no noise. It isn’t audiophile material but does good enough for most casual users. You can pair it easily with your cellphone or bluetooth enabled music player. In case your music player doesn’t support Bluetooth you can use the A120 bluetooth adapter provided by Jabra. It costs about $49. The call quality falters a bit here and there though, Jabra could have improved it a lot. The microphone quality is good and is easily audible by the caller on the other end.
The headset controls lie on each earpiece, Play / Pause on the right and Answer / End on the left. It also has a volume toggle on the right earpiece and a standard miniUSB port and a microphone on the left.
Accessories and Battery Life:
With the Jabra BT620s, you get all the standard accessories like the AC adapter, USB cable and extra headphone pads. You also get a quick start guide, which is quite redundant if you are any good with technology. If you intend to use the headset with a device which doesn’t have Bluetooth, you can use the A120 or A125 transmitter by Jabra.
The Jabra BT620s is rated at about 14 hours for music playback and 16 hours for normal calls on a single charge. The battery life is decent and should last you about 2 to 3 days on normal usage.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Good design and features
Cons:
- A bit on the heavier side
- Slightly Bad Call Quality
Conclusion:
The Jabra BT620s is a decently performing bluetooth headset which is good enough for casual use. It has a cool design but is slightly heavy. The sound quality is good for casual users. It is priced at around $50 which is good considering it’s features.
Our Rating: 3 / 5.
