Review:
The Lenovo ThinkPad USB Secure has a very simple design and is dressed in black. It is a bit bulky compared to other external drives in its range. It has dimensions of 4.7 x 3.4 x 0.8 inches which is quite compact and should fit in your pockets. It weighs just about 182 grams which is very light. The build quality is pretty good and durable and should easily last for years. The design isn’t much to speak of with the 10 number buttons on top of it, making it look more like a ancient telephone. It also has the Lock / Unlock on the front. A USB cable comes bundled with the drive to connect it to hard drives.
The Lenovo ThinkPad USB Secure comes with 256 bit full disk AES encryption. You cannot access your files without the password. The default is 123456 which you can change if you wish to. You can create upto 10 user accounts to access the files on the drive. It has nice read / write speeds. When connected via USB, it offers read speeds of 26 MBps and write speeds of 15 MBps. It can write a 2 GB file in about 2 mins and 15 secs. The read speeds are better, it can read the same file from disk in about 80 secs. It is available in capacities of 160 GB, 320 GB and 400 GB.
Pros:
- Very Fast
- 256 bit FDE
Cons:
- Mediocre Design
Our Rating: 3.5 / 5.
