LG KF700 Review
The market has seen a revolution with the introduction of iPhone and touch handsets are booming. LG has heated up the battle with the introduction of LG KF700 handset, a few weeks ago. It features multiple control and navigation methods along with a 3″ display. The look is quite similar to the iPhone except for the fact that it has a slider keypad too.
LG KF700 specifications :
- Dimensions : 102 x 51 x 14.5 mm
- Weight : 110g
- Display : 3″ TFT Touchscreen, 240×480 resolution
- Camera : 3.2 megapixel with autofocus,image stabilizer
- Connectivity : GPRS, EDGE, 3.5G
- Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP
- FM Radio
- Memory Slot : MicroSD
- Approx. price : $320
The price is the most attractive thing that you will first encounter about this handset. The handset has three input methods which include keypad and a scroll wheel apart from the touchscreen. You have to use the keypad to enter text which isn’t an intelligent thinking on LG’s part. Also no D-pad on the keypad means you are bound to use the touchscreen to navigate.
The accessories bundled do not hold any surprises at all. The device has a neat and clean look. The keypad is a slider instead of a slide out which have caught the fancy of users looking out for full QWERTY keyboards. Right side has the LG connectivity port along with camera key and a touchscreen lock key. The left side contains only the scroll wheel. Memory card slot takes it position at the top.
The user interface on the handset is Flash-based much like the LG Viewty. The user interface is well organised and is easy to navigate. The only grip with the interface is the absence of the on-screen QWERTY keyboard. Phonebook has detailed entries and can store upto 1000 contacts.
The multimedia capabilities of the phone are undoubtedly great with the music player being the same as Viewty. The image browser is also fast and good set of features. The audio quality is very good and has very low distortion. The loudspeaker is eceptionally good which is a cherry on the cake. The video player is almost the same as Viewty minus the DivX playback functionality.
The camera on the KF700 has a 3 megapixel sensor along with autofocus. It has a LED flash, from which you can hardly expect anything. The interface is pretty basic with limited functionality. The images produced by above average which is good for a phone which is not a dedicated camera phone. Video recording is dissappointing though.
The web browser is an amazing experience on touchscreen and the KF700 does full justice to it. It has almost all the features that you are likely to use. It also has various rendering modes to optimise your browsing experience. No flash support is present on the browser though. The organizer is packed and loaded with a large number of applications. You can set calendar events, set upto 5 alarms, also view office documents etc.
Pros :
- Attractively priced
- Big 3″ display
- Upto 8GB microSD card compatible
- Great loudspeaker and multimedia capabilities
- Excellent browser
- Great organizer
Cons :
- Side scroll wheel redundant
- Average camera quality
- Bad video recording
- No screen auto rotation
Final Thoughts
The LG KF700 is an excellent handset for the price it comes wth. It packes in a lot of features which will impress the users. Great multimedia capabilities along with average camera would be just fine for many. Browsing on it is a charm but lack of Flash is a downpoint. Overall its worth spending the money if you need a low priced full touchscreen handset.
