Microsoft’s mouse/keyboards offers great ergonomics and design. That has been their USP and they have built upon it for quite some years now. Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is a mouse for notebook users. The mouse has lots of features and is quite innovative too which you will find out soon.

Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 specifications :

  • Type : Wireless Notebook mouse
  • No. of buttons : 5
  • Wheel type : Tilt wheel
  • Sensor : 1000 dpi
  • USB Rechargeable
  • Bluetooth mode
  • Battery life indicator
  • Approx. price : $79

The mouse is designed futuristically and the silver and black combo does make you wonder over its beauty! The mouse is designed to work on 2.4 GHz frequency which is emitted by a pen-drive sized receiver which plugs into a USB port. What makes it different from other wireless mice is that, you can connect it via Bluetooth also. So it has dual connectivity which is great.

In the package, you will find the mouse, wireless receiver, a carrying pouch and a charging cable. The cool thing about the wireless receiver is that, it also doubles up as a flash drive. A cool 1GB flash drive. But I doubt how last it will long if one has to keep it plugged in throughout the day, but anyhow it is a cool option for people switching between computers.

The mouse is round shaped and its base has been made frictionless which paves the way for its smooth movement. The mouse is ergonomic for use to say the least. It features five buttons along with a tilting scroll wheel. The thumb buttons have been placed just a bit out of reach for the thumb.

The mouse can be charged with the included cable which uses magnets to connect its both end to the mouse and the receiver. A charge for 15 minutes gives a backup time of 1 day while full charge can last upto 3 weeks. The mouse uses AAA battery for drawing its power.

The Microsoft Intelli-Point software is not as good as it should be as it has only limited customisation options. The Instant Viewer/Flip 3D function is useful if you are a Windows user. The mouse is comfortable to use and you can keep using it throughout the day without feeling the need to give your wrists/palm a rest.

Pros :

  • Comfortable,ergonomic
  • Receiver doubles up as flash drive
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Carry pouch

Cons :

  • Average software
  • Bit high thumb buttons
  • Low battery life
  • Bit expensive

Final Thoughts

The Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is a good mouse to invest it. It is ergonomic and comfortable to use. Bluetooth connectivity and receiver as a flash drive are added advantages which make the mouse more worthy of its price. Its good that the mouse has a rechargeable battery as it lasts only for a short span relatively. Overall a good buy.

My Rating : 3.75/5
