Mobile Warranty and Laptop Transfer Query

The first query is by shymali :

hello,
Just 6 months back i bought a nokia cellphone, model name is 5610d-1, at the cost of of 11,900. it came with warranty period of 1 year. last month my phone has developed display problem, service center says because it comes under limited warranty i have to pay a sum of 2300. All i need to ask is whether i have to pay that money or not. Please help me.thanks so much

The warranty covers limited aspects of your phone and has hidden clauses to frustrate the consumer further. The display problem can be due to a number of reasons which decides whether it would be covered in the warranty or not. If it got damaged due to moisture then it would not be covered under warranty. Same is the case if it got damaged from external force. But if it was not subjected to an any external force and developed over time, then it should be covered in the warranty. But then again you got to read the fine print to know whether it will be covered in warranty or not. Also you can try another service center to confirm.

The second query is by jeremy :

Is it possible to transfer files through the mic/headphone jacks? If not I have an old Nec Versa laptop I picked up at a garage sale for 15$ and was wondering if i can connect it to my acer aspire desk top, to put small games backgrounds and so fourth on it?

A laptop for $15 !! That’s one hell of a deal! I will pay you double the price+shipping charges if you send it to my place !! Jokes apart, seems like it is a really ancient laptop. Look around the laptop to find if there are any ports such as USB port which can be used to connect it to your desktop. If it has a floppy drive, then you can use that to transfer data. Last option would be to open it up and see if it has an IDE hard disk which you can plug into your desktop to transfer data.Mobile Warranty and Laptop Transfer Query
