MSN Messenger and Windows Error

A Very Happy New Year to all of you,
Starting the new year by answering the queries of those who matter the most to us – our beloved readers,

The first query is by George,

Hi John, Am using Windows xp but have this problem occuring and occuring, msn messenger windows pops and the whole Meccer computer freezes, What so suprising is that this is a new brand machine that have not even lasted for one month.

Hey George,

This isn’t a hardware problem. What version of MSN messenger are you using? Is the version of Windows XP you are using 64 bit? There are some incompatibility errors with 64 bit applications. Try getting the latest version of Live Messenger. If that doesn’t work, consider using alternate applications like Pidgin or Trillian to log in to your MSN account. Better still, upgrade to Windows Vista or use Windows XP 32 bit.

The 2nd query is by Jane Lusk,

I have a Dell Studio 540 computer. It will automatically shut with an error message saying shuting down because windows has detected a problem that may cause damage to my computer. It shuts down and reboots back up asking me whether to start up windows normally. What is causing the problem?

Hey Jane,

Just start Windows normally once, and it will work properly thereafter. If the problem recurs, then check any application you installed recently that might be causing this problem and remove it. If you are not able to pin point it, then restore your system to an earlier date using System Restore by booting into Safe Mode.

Have a great 2009.
