NAS and Mobile Signal Booster Query

The first query is by Dave :

Hi,

i have setup a wireless home network using a belkin wireless router. I recently purchased a 1TB nas drive. When I connect this drive to the router and run the software provided on my PC it cannot find the drive. Do i have to change any settings on the router or PC to allow it to see the NAS????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There can be many problems which can lead to NAS drive not getting recognised by your wireless router. The foremost thing that you should do is reset the NAS settings of the router to factory default ones. Also connect the drive to the router using Ethernet port and not a USB port. Run NAS setup and assign IP address to the drive and you will be up and running in a matter of minutes.

If this does not sort out the issue, make sure that Ethernet port light comes on when you plug in the NAS drive to ensure the interface works fine. You can purchase a copy of Network Magic to fix the problem automatically also.

The second query is by ROW :

There is something called mobile signal booster. It is in the form of small sticker like chip. The companies advertise that you can install it on your phone under the battery and it will boost the signals coming on your phone…

Does that work really? If yes, which company you recommend

Mobile signal boosters are a waste of money and hardly provide any significant boost to the signal strength. Mobile manufacturers already tweak the handset for maximum performance and such “stickers” are not of much help. Although this might not be applicable to your problem, but one should check out signal reception capabilities of a phone before buying. Nokia handsets generally have better signal reception quality than their counterparts.

In the warehouse district where I’m located my neighbor has suggested that I get a wireless signal booster to penetrate and extend the signal through our ajoining block wall. We’ve tried his laptop on both sides and there’s a difference signalwise. Logically need a 120 foot run from his transmitter, but with block wall. Any ideas? Thanx
