Ask us: Nokia E71 and Network Query
The first query is by Stephen :
just got the e71 after reading ur review. everything works great as expected except for the following : 1. The easy dialing function doesn’t work on my device…what’s going on? 2. No blackberry connect …thoughts and other workarounds recommendation ?
Glad that our review helped you in making your decision easier. Coming to your first query about Easy Dialing, Nokia did not enable that feature in many handsets. I am not sure if Nokia did enable it in some handsets, so nothing can be done about it.
It is very sad that Blackberry Connect is not available for the latest E-series and there are very slim hopes that it does indeed become available anytime soon. There are a couple of alternatives like Seven Email that offer Push email that you can try out. There is also this Nokia Email thing that you can try out. But they are not as good as Blackberry connect.
The second query is by Joseph :
can u run a network with 2 computers with ethernet without a modem. i dont have dsl modem have a 1 wireless card and 2 computers.
You have not specified what kind of network you want to run. You can connect both the computers through a CAT5 crossover cable. When both of them are connected you can share files between the PCs and even share the net connection. Remember that you need a CAT5 crosssover cable and a simple Ethernet cable will not do. The CAT5 cable is similar to Ethernet cable but it is designed in a different way and plugs in your Ethernet ports only.
If you want to create a Wi-Fi network(for Wi-Fi enabled devices), then that is also possible by using the wireless card and configuring it to broadcast your net connection or simply share files. But by using only one wireless card, you can network both the PCs. To do that, you need to buy another wireless card and plug that in the other PC and then configure it.

Your bottom part isn’t totally true. Cat5 cables are a specific type of ethernet cables, so are Cat5e and Cat6.
You’re correct however, that you need a crossover cable (though it could be Cat5e or Cat6 as well as Cat5).

@Adam
Yes but I did not want to complicate matters for him, so I told him the simplest and cheapest solution. The other two are enhanced version and offer better speed etc.
@Schummy
You will have to check that out, or else Googling might bring up an answer to your query.
