Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80

Lian Li ArmorSuit PC-P80Here at Digit Geek, we’ve reviewed a number of devices that are meant for the gamers out there. We’ve looked at the nForce 790i motherboard, the Razer Lachesis mouse, and the Razer Tarantula keyboard, but we haven’t really covered that many gaming cases.

The case is one of the most important aspects of a truly amazing gaming computer. Without proper ventilation you’ll notice poor performance out of your machine, and if doesn’t look really cool you wont want to take it to any LAN parties. Luckily the folks over at Lian Li have thought of both of these things when they designed the product that I’m going to review today.

The Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80 is one beast of a case. It has a total of 12 external 5.25″ bays, there are two HDD bays that can hold 3 hard drives each and there are 4 large fans to cool the case down. Overall this case rules and will keep everything cool while being silent at the same time.

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the Armorsuit PC-P80:

  • Street price: $349.99 approx.
  • Anti-vibration kit
  • 12 external 5.25″ bays, 6 internal 3.5″ bays
  • Air filter for all of the fans
  • Removable motherboard tray
  • Holds E-ATX, ATX, M-ATX motherboards

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS

One of the best selling 35mm point and shoot cameras was the Canon Elph. It was an instant hit with its small size, numerous functions and great picture quality. I got one of the first Elph’s when it came out and have been using it ever since (yes, I still use 35mm cameras). It out performs all of my other point and shoot cameras, and that’s why I’m excited for today’s review.

The Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS is essentially the Canon Elph, but digitized. The SD1100 features a 8.1MP sensor, 3x optical and a number of features like face detection and motion detection.

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the PowerShot SD1100 IS:

  • Street price: $249.99 approx.
  • 8MP
  • 2.5″ LCD
  • ISO Sensitivity: 80 /100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600

Panasonic Stereo Earbud Headphones

When it comes to consumer headphones, there are really only two types: earbuds and over the ear headphones. In general, the earbuds lack the quality of their larger sibling and do not produce the quality of sound needed for audiophiles.

The Panasonic RP-HJE300 stereo earbud headhpones are one of the best earbud headphones I’ve ever listened to. They produce an excellent sound and bass, and haven’t broken yet after a few months of use (like most earbuds do).

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the Panasonic Stereo Earbud Headphones:

  • Street price: $39.99 approx.
  • 3 ear pad sizes
  • Frequency response: 6Hz - 24kHz
  • Power handling capacity - 200 mW
  • Impedance: 16 ohms / Sensitivity: 200 mW
  • 0.6m cord

Adding a Wireless Router

David Bradley asked us:

What’s the cheapest, easiest and quickest way to add wireless access to an ADSL broadband connection. I want to share internet access between a desktop and a laptop in the same building, but at minimal cost and effort.

db

The quickest and cheapest way to share internet access between a desktop and a laptop would be to buy yourself a LAN cable and connect your two computers together. You’ll then need to go into your computer that’s connected to the ADSL modem and share its internet connection.

To share an internet connection in Windows XP just follow these steps:

  1. Click “Start”
  2. Click “Control Panel”
  3. Click “Network and Internet Connections”
  4. Click “Network Connections”
  5. Right-Click “Local Area Connection”
  6. Click on the “Advanced” tab
  7. Check the box that says “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection

Tablet PC’s and Gaming Motherboards

We’ve answered a lot of questions so far in our “Ask Us” section such as: Upgrading your RAM, Tips on Buying a Desktop Computer, Best cellphone under $500 and Buying a Computer for Vista. Before I get into two more questions that have been asked if you have any hardware related questions feel free to wander over to the “Ask Us” section of our website and ask any hardware related problem (or any problem with technology really).

Today I’m going to be answering two questions from our viewers.

Ryan B asked us:

Hello,
I am looking to purchase a Tablet PC. What am I looking for in a laptop, especially in Tablet PCs?

~Bzar

Thats a really good question, especially since we haven’t reviewed many Table PCs here. Buying a Tablet really depends on what you’re going to be using it for.

If you want a Tablet PC for writing down notes and carrying around with you like a very expensive notepad than you’ll probably want a fairly compact and light Tablet. You won’t need a very large processor or a lot of RAM (probably 1.2GHz and 1GB of RAM should do fine). HP and Toshiba make a number of lightweight Tablets that’ll suit your needs.

If you’re going to be using this Tablet PC as a design tool you’re going to want a fairly large screen and a fast processor with a lot of RAM. A 15inch to 17inch screen will be better to write on and 2GB of RAM should be good. If you’re going to use it for this however, I would suggest buying a regular laptop and paying a couple hundred dollars for a Wacom Tablet, it woulde be much cheaper.

Thanks for the question. If this hasn’t cleared it up feel free to contact us for further inquiries.

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd

Fujifilm FinePix F50fdPoint and shoot cameras come in many sizes ranging from extremely compact to the size of a SLR. The only problem with getting a smaller camera is that the makers generally have to sacrifice something to get the extra small size. Normally they sacrifice picture quality or features. Luckily today’s camera did neither.

The Fujifilm FinePix F50fd has many of the features that are no standard on point and shoot cameras. It has an extremely good face detection, 12MP CCD sensor and a number of other great features. This is the first Fujifilm camera that we’ve reviewed here and so far I’m very impressed.

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the FinePix F50fd:

  • Street price: $249.99 approx.
  • 12MP
  • 2.7″ LCD
  • ISO Sensitivity: 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 / 6400
  • Shutter Speed: 8 sec to 1/2000 sec
  • Aperture:F2.8 - F8

Lacie d2 External Blu-ray Burner

Blu-Ray finally emerged the winner of the battle of the format! HD-DVD gave up when major studies decided to go Blu-Ray. So it does make sense to buy a Blu-ray burner if you are planning to be future proof. But the only problem at the moment lies in the fact that these are damn expensive and hard to find. Lacie decided to take the lead and they are already out with an external Blu-ray burner that can be hooked to your PC or Mac.
