How to increase battery life of laptop

A lot of use are concerned about the battery life of our notebook/laptops. While on the move, none of us likes to run out of battery and lose out on precious time. I will give you tips to enhance the battery life without spending a single penny!

Tip 1: Reduce display brightness

The best way to save on battery life is to reduce the brightness of your display. Display uses up a lot of battery and hence leads to draining of charge faster. You can either set up different power plans for different situations so that you can easily switch between them according to your needs. Other way is to reduce the display brightness manually when you know that you won’t have access to AC power for a longer period of time.

Tip 2: Disconnect external peripherals

Disconnect peripherals connected to external ports of the laptop. External components such as mouse, speakers etc. draw up power from the battery. Use the touchpad instead of using the mouse. Do not use devices such as laptop cooler which also suck up power.

Troubleshoot MP3 Player And Laptop Query

We have two more queries on the Ask-Us page. One is regarding a problem faced sham on his T.Sonic 840 MP3 player and another is by John, who needs help on choosing a laptop for him according to his mentioned needs.

Sham’s query :

I have a Tsonic 840 for over 1 year. It was working great. I just love it. But today it just went dead without any reason. There was no man hand or anything. A song was playing and it just went dead.
Initially I thought it was battery low. I then charged it via usb port. But then no luck. It did not come alive.
Any reports of such problems?
Please help.

This is a weird problem as there seems to no clear evidence as to what caused the player to go dead. You have already ruled out the possibility of low battery charge that could have shutdown the player. But as the player is not charging via USB then surely there is some internal problem with the player which can not be solved by you alone.

How To Use Nokia GPS

Nokia has brought GPS with a big bang by integrating the GPS function into its top of the line mobiles. But I have seen a lot of guys being unable to make full use of the service due to limited knowledge about it.

I will post all the steps in order that will enable you to use GPS to its full potential.

Step 1: Install the latest firmware of your mobile

Having the latest firmware on your mobile never hurts and is always recommended. It also improves the GPS/A-GPS performance on your mobile as in new firmware bugs get ironed out which improve performance and reliability of the applications and the phone in general.

Download and install the latest firmware of your phone using the Nokia Software Updater(NSU) which will hardly take 10-15 minutes depending on your broadband connection speed.

Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80

Lian Li ArmorSuit PC-P80Here at Digit Geek, we’ve reviewed a number of devices that are meant for the gamers out there. We’ve looked at the nForce 790i motherboard, the Razer Lachesis mouse, and the Razer Tarantula keyboard, but we haven’t really covered that many gaming cases.

The case is one of the most important aspects of a truly amazing gaming computer. Without proper ventilation you’ll notice poor performance out of your machine, and if doesn’t look really cool you wont want to take it to any LAN parties. Luckily the folks over at Lian Li have thought of both of these things when they designed the product that I’m going to review today.

The Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80 is one beast of a case. It has a total of 12 external 5.25″ bays, there are two HDD bays that can hold 3 hard drives each and there are 4 large fans to cool the case down. Overall this case rules and will keep everything cool while being silent at the same time.

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the Armorsuit PC-P80:

  • Street price: $349.99 approx.
  • Anti-vibration kit
  • 12 external 5.25″ bays, 6 internal 3.5″ bays
  • Air filter for all of the fans
  • Removable motherboard tray
  • Holds E-ATX, ATX, M-ATX motherboards

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS

One of the best selling 35mm point and shoot cameras was the Canon Elph. It was an instant hit with its small size, numerous functions and great picture quality. I got one of the first Elph’s when it came out and have been using it ever since (yes, I still use 35mm cameras). It out performs all of my other point and shoot cameras, and that’s why I’m excited for today’s review.

The Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS is essentially the Canon Elph, but digitized. The SD1100 features a 8.1MP sensor, 3x optical and a number of features like face detection and motion detection.

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the PowerShot SD1100 IS:

  • Street price: $249.99 approx.
  • 8MP
  • 2.5″ LCD
  • ISO Sensitivity: 80 /100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600
  • Shutter Speed: 15 sec to 1/1500 sec
  • Image Stabilization

Panasonic Stereo Earbud Headphones

When it comes to consumer headphones, there are really only two types: earbuds and over the ear headphones. In general, the earbuds lack the quality of their larger sibling and do not produce the quality of sound needed for audiophiles.

The Panasonic RP-HJE300 stereo earbud headhpones are one of the best earbud headphones I’ve ever listened to. They produce an excellent sound and bass, and haven’t broken yet after a few months of use (like most earbuds do).

Here are a few of the technical specifications for the Panasonic Stereo Earbud Headphones:

  • Street price: $39.99 approx.
  • 3 ear pad sizes
  • Frequency response: 6Hz - 24kHz
  • Power handling capacity - 200 mW
  • Impedance: 16 ohms / Sensitivity: 200 mW
