Razer Lachesis
When gaming online there are a few things that you must have: a good internet connection, a relatively good graphics card and a very good mouse. If you want to stay competitive in any online first person shooter FPS), a high resolution mouse is the best investment you could make.
Looking for a good mouse can be hard because of all of the choices available to you at this moment, but the mouse that’s getting all of the hype lately is the Razer Lachesis. We’ve reviewed a couple of mice here before but the Lachesis blows all of them out of the water with its 4000dpi, its ability to store 5 different game profiles and its other great features.
Here are a few of the technical specifications for the Razer Lachesis :
- Street price: $79.99 approx.
- 4000dpi
- 32KB onboard memory
- 1ms response time
- Ambidextrous design
- Zero-stick feet
- 7 foot cord
Things I like
This mouse is probably one of the best ones out there for high-sensitivity gaming. The Lachesis glides effortlessly with just your fingertips across your mouse pad. This is great when you need precision in fast-paced FSP games. This mouse also looks the part, showing off its features with a number of cool LED’s. While some people won’t like the LEDs, they went well with my case and I thought it looked cool.
All of the buttons on the mouse feel very responsive. I find it really annoying when you click a button and you’re not sure whether you actually clicked it. This doesn’t happen with the Razer Lachesis. I also like the fact that they’ve included 32KB of memory on this mouse to save up to five different gaming profiles. This means that if you want a different sensitivity rating for CounterStrike and Team Fortress 2 you can just save it to the mouse and it’ll load up that profile when you launch the game.
The other thing I like about this mouse is that it’s ambedextrious. Because it’s perfectly symmetical you can use it whether your right handed or left handed. Since I’m right handed I’ve never had a problem with this before, but its really cool that the folks over at Razer are thinking of the left handed gamers.
Things I don’t like
Because of the way this mouse is laid out (it’s perfectly symmetrical), it’s a little weird to use at times. If you need an ergonomic mouse the Lachesis definitely isn’t for you. When playing games at a low sensitivity level I found that this mouse was actually quite annoying to play with. When you play games at low sensitivity you’re constantly lifting your mouse to recenter it and I was always worried of dropping the Lachesis.
The other thing I don’t like about this mouse is its price. At $80 its a fairly expesnive mouse. While it does have a number of great features I’m not sure whether the price justifies the quality. Don’t get me wrong, the Razer Lachesis is a great mouse, I just think $80 is fairly steep.
Pros:
- Adjustable DPI in 125 DPI
- 4000 DPI max resolution
- Ambidextrous
- Nice design
Cons:
- Expensive
- A little awkward
Final Thoughts
The Razer Lachesis is a great mouse if you’re going to game at medium to high sensitivity levels. If you’re not, the mouse becomes a little awkward to hold. Overall I really like this mouse and will continue to use it until a better one comes out. Rating: 4.3/5
