Sandisk 4GB Cruzer Micro
Pen drives are available at dime-a-dozen.The latest trend has shifted from buying a 2GB pen drive to a 4GB pen drive as 4GB pen drives have become very reasonable in price and are currently the sweetest spot for spending when buying a pen drive.Apart from just carrying files around these ensure that you can also take backup of your sensitive data and or carrying around your favourite applications with you all the time!
Lets look at the specs first:
- Capacity: 4GB
- Interface: High-Speed USB 2.0
- OS Compatibility:Windows 2000,ME,XP, Apple OS 9.1 or later
- U3 Compatible
The specs don’t have anything to look at but in general they wil work with almost all types of OSes out there. It comes with a retractable USB port which is a boon as you don’t have to worry about lost caps anymore and it also means that the overall size of your pen drive reduces. The all black finish complements the orange LED that has been integrated makes it look classy. It is rugged,light-weight and slim making it your perfect companion. But all this goes down the drain if you miss your flight while it transfers data.So lets look at its performance.
Coming to the read speed first. It has an amazing read speed of around 20MB/s and copies data from your pen drive to hard disk in a flash. The write speed is though not so amazing at about 8MB/s which is not so good. The assorted data write speed is pathetic at about 2.5MB/s.The drive being U3 compatible reduces your hassles if you want to install your favorite applications on the pen drive itself and is a boon for some.
Pros:
- Retractable USB port
- Slim and compact
- Fast read speed
- U3 Compatible
Cons:
- Slow write speed
Final Thoughts
This pen drives does manage to get most of the things perfect but the average write speed spoils the whole experience in the end.You need to look for another pen drive if you want faster write speeds. If you don’t care about the write speed then this the perfect 4GB pen drive you can buy with its price being reduced by Sandisk for the festive season.
