SanDisk Sansa Clip Review

SanDisk music players are a hit among consumers due to their low price and awesome music quality. SanDisk has off-late come out with excellent players that have challenged even the iPods. SanDisk Sansa Clip is one such music player from SanDisk that gives serious competition to iPod Shuffle.

SanDisk Sansa Clip specifications :

  • Dimensions : 2.2″ x 1.4″ x 0.5″
  • Interface : Hi-Speed USB
  • Flash Memory : 2GB installed
  • Radio : Digital Radio Tuner
  • Display : OLED display
  • Audio formats : WMA, Protected WMA, Audible, MP3
  • Battery : Internal Rechargeable
  • Approx. price : $60

The dimensions of the Sansa Clip are small but not as small as the iPod Shuffle and understandably so as it features a display screen unlike the Shuffle. The display is a 1″ OLED display which helps in navigation. Color options are plenty with the Clip. Also there are two versions of this player, one comes with a gig of space while the other offers twice that amount.

The name of the player is Clip as it provides you with a removable belt clip in the matching color as that of the player. The controls on the player are simple and easy to understand. It has a four-way navigation system along with a home button. The four keys on the D-pad are used to navigate through the menus as well as act as media control keys. There is a dedicated volume rocker on the right side of the device. It also has a power/hold switch. The 3.5 mm jack is placed above the volume rocker.  The controls are ergonomic ans easily accessible.

The screen does not support photo or video placback. The player also comes with integrated microphone for voice recording as well as a FM tuner for listening to your favorite radio stations. Shuffle and repeat playback options are present as expected. Autoresume is a handy feature that the player supports.

The performance of the player is its biggest plus point. The sound produced is clear with no distortion and loud too. The bass is strong but not too much on the higher side.  The music sounded rich and clear with the mids being smooth. The bundled earphones do not do justice to the player at all.

Pros :

  • OLED display
  • Great sound quality
  • Removable belt clip
  • FM Radio
  • Inexpensive

Cons :

  • Shoddy FM reception

Final Thoughts

The SanDisk Sansa Clip gives the iPod Shuffle excellent competition. The display is really handy and playlist support makes the Shuffle look useless. It is a great player that offers excellent performance at an affordable price.

My Rating : 4.25/5
