Review:

The Seagate FreeAgent Go is a nice litte external drive with a clean, shiny design. It has dimensions of 0.49 inches x 3.15 inches x 5.12 inches – pretty portable and weighs around 160 gms which makes it very pocket friendly. The build quality is very nice and the casing sturdy and durable. It is available in ten colors – Titanium Silver, Tuxedo Black, Ruby Red, Royal Blue, Sky Blue, Solar Orange, Think Pink, Champagne Gold, Spring Green, Forest Green. All the colors look very nice but I would personally prefer Tuxedo Black. In case you have a Mac, you would rather get the Titanium Silver as it blends with the look of a Mac. The look is further enhanced with the lights under the front surface which blink and form patterns when the drive is in use.

The Seagate FreeAgent Go drive is quite good at what it is primarily supposed to do, read and write data. It offers pretty good data transfer speeds. It can write data at about 165 Mbps and read data at 174 Mbps which slightly outperforms the category average. It comes with the Seagate Manager software (Windows Only) preinstalled using which you can schedule backups automatically. You can also sync your data between different computers and encrypt and secure your private data using 256 bit AES encryption.

If you are ready to shell ou a few extra bucks, you can also get the optional FreeAgent Dock to safely keep your Seagate FreeAgent Go drive.

Pros:

  • Nice Design and Build
  • Fast Data Transfer
  • Seagate Manager

Cons:

  • No Firewire in Normal version

Our Rating: 4 / 5.
