the one thing that killed all 5 things that supposedly stand a chance at killing the iPhone… they all relied on Windows UI. The number one problem with any and every smart phone other than the iPhone, is that they all run on Windows based platforms…which in a nut shell, compared to Mac OSX… it’s like comparing Nintendo DS with blip two on two football… they just don’t compete in the same league.
And why doesn’t the iPhone have video, cut n’ paste etc? They aint stupid… as soon as anyone gets close to actually competing in the slightest way… you know for sure the iPhone WILL have video, and possibly flash capabilities… but by that time, Apple will be on to the next best thing, while everyone else is stiiiil trying to compete with the iPod and the iPhones. Although, having an iPhone for over a year now, if it did have a video camera, all I’d be recording is a bunch of crap no one would want to see anyway… and having to manage it… whatever… it’s overated. Marketing and product development this day in age is a different world over what it was just 5 years ago. Apple is the master in market control… when they need to release all the horses, they will… until then, sit back and watch the iPhone continue to outsell all 5 of those iPhone wanna be’s combined in the next year, again and still. All of you out there… save yourself the trouble and headache… just get an iPhone and get on with it… you will not be disappointed… ask how many of your friends are completely satisfied, or even half way kind of like any of their Widows enabled smart phones. The percentages in each camp is staggering when you ask around. Anywhoo, if you want a super phone and a laptop (near literal) in your shirt pocket, with the worlds best UI and software based system, with a staggering number of applications in every category available in iTunes… many applications and games are completely free.
That’s enough from me… find someone else who has an iPhone and ask them their 3 favorite things about it and their 3 least favorite… they will easily give you about 10 things they like and might have 1 or 2 things they don’t like, but don’t really care much about. Ask a Blackberry owner the same question… your results will often be just the opposite… 10 things they hate, and maybe 2 things that are good… hand them an iPhone and it’s all over.
So enjoy your Windows based Stupid-phone… when you are done being taken advantage of and wasting your time and money… get that iPhone and see for yourself what your mobile smart-phone is really capable of… you’ll wish you had years sooner.

My mate got the samsung phone. Why does it have to come with that stick thing. My kids keep loosing the ones they have for their DS. The iPhone is a true touch screen, the others are press screens and at that can only register one touch/press at a time. It will take a lot to be an iPhone killer. The iPhone is not perfect, but is more perfect that all the others out there.

Android will be like windows. A compatible competitor, BUT and a big BUT, it will have to work and be compatible with a lot of phones, that where the problems start. The iphone killers will have some better features that the iphone (as a lot of phones have now) but as the whole finished article, it unbeatable at the moment.

Ig Apple released flash player and a better camera (all smart phone seem to have 2mp cameras) it would set the bar right at the top. As my phone is jailbroken I can forward sms messages, send and receive MMS messages, have a video camera, have a plug and play USB drive, laptop modem, remote control for my iMac and some great games and apps.

I dont wont to slag off the other phone because I’m sure they will be great phones and make a lot of people happy, but for me there is only one phone, the iPhone.

Noise. Nothing but noise. Any article that has the insert-Apple-product-here Killer simply doesn’t get it. How many years has the competition had to create the iPod Killer? 7? They aren’t even close. The one-two punch of the iPhone/App store will make the iPhone the dominant smart phone on the market. Not only will its feature set rapidly improve while old models continue to be upgraded (a situation practically non-existent on other mobile systems) but applications will stretch the boundaries of what can be done with a mobile, internet connected device. And those applications are available, immediately, from a single download as you go source.

Analysts who continue to imagine the Apple product killer are simply unaware of the leaps and bounds Apple is beyond their closest competitor. And they are not about to give up that lead.

Hi, I got Omnia about a month ago and have to say it has not crushed once since. WM 6.1 is actualy stable and fast and comparing to my friends iphone 3g I would defently stick with Omnia and my friend is changing to it as well. Simply has more feutures and it is very user friendly since samsung changed WM a bit and added its own feutures, for example it plays divx and has tv out.

I disagree with this statement about the HTC Touch entirely:

…Pro and features a very cool User Interface – TouchFLO 3D which is just as good as the iPhone’s UI.

When I was shopping for phones, I found the HTC Touch interface to perturbing at best and the touch screen elements best suited for small children with very skinny fingers. Although the iPhone was not to my satisfaction either, I found the HTC Touch to have an inferior interface.

Of course, it is feature rich so you can always say that your phone has 10 features you don’t use instead of the 5 that come with the iPhone.

In the end I settled on the HTC Mogul with it’s bulk and slide out keypad.

Interesting grouping. Every iPhone wannabe on the planet with the “killer” appellation attached to it.

Please do a side by side table comparing all the features an iPhone has and doesn’t have. I’d want a phone that has all the features an iPhone has, plus all the other features it should have.

A nice, easy to read table should make that fairly simple to assess.

I’ll keep an eye out for it. Thanks.

Hmm Interesting,

Everyone is saying “og your a apple fan bot because you can;t admit that windows mobile is just as good” well face the facts Windows mobile has a unresponsive touch screen and has lots of bugs, not to say the iphone doesn’t.

I currently own a instinct and a iphone 3g and by looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong shot the iphone 3g wins. you say the iphone crap because it doesn’t have mms or a 5 MP camera i mean what would you prefer i mobile phone that has everything but is slow sluggish and unresponsive or a phone that has a alot of great things every day people use and had one of the best touch screens ever designed for a phone. Not to mention the rich web browsing experience.

So don’t go calling people apple fans boy when you cannot admit that the apple iphone is one of the best smart phone to date so you say oh it doesn’t have this it doesn’t have that but in true fact nearly all of those things can be activated with basically a new app from the app store.

To me the iphone prevails over nearly all windows mobile phone because of one simple little things.

“It does WHAT i WANT, WHEN i WANT WITHOUT any troubles needless to say alot of windows phone can do all of this if not more but with a sluggish user interface o it all comes down to one thing and easy to use interface with apple have basically perfected to date.

So my vote goes to the iphone 3G because of this but in the end it’s what you want.

Anyways it’s only a phone? right?

@Shug – tell you what – let us know when the Xperia is actually available for people to buy. Easy to say it’s better from a demo video but they said that about the Instinct and the Touch Diamond – both of which were actually pants.
