USB Port Power and Basic PC Configuration Query
We have two more questions on the Ask-Us page.
The first query is by Jalal Singh :
Sir,
My USB Front panel port produce more power so thats affect to damage my pendrive. How I can solve this…… Please tel me…….. Thank U….
First of all, make sure that you are actually receiving more power as this is a very rare case. After you have made sure that this is the problem then you need to check the cause for it. As you have mentioned that the front USB ports are causing this problem then most probably you do not have certified USB ports.
There are many cheap front USB panels available in the market which come fitted in low end cabinets, which do not care about quality. This could be the problem in your case too. So change the USB front panel with a certified one and check again for the problem.
If this is not the case then the only possibility could be that your motherboard is sending out more power to USB ports. To confirm this, check your back panel USB ports for the power to see if it within the limits. If it is not then your motherboard has a fault, although there could be problem with SMPS but that is unlikely.
The second query is by Sujith John :
Hi ,
Could you please suggest me a configuration for a system that would be used only for internet purpose, along with the cost too.
Regards
–Sujith
Well even a P3 would be good enough for ONLY internet purpose but I am assuming you also want to perform some other tasks such as work on office suite, watch movies etc.
I will suggest you the most basic configuration that will help you do all these tasks.
Basic PC Configuration :
- Processor : Intel E2140
- Motherboard : Intel D945G
- RAM : 1GB Kingston DDR2 667 MHz
- Hard Disk : Western Digital 80 GB SATA2
- Monitor : Viewsonic 15″ LCD
- Keyboard+Mouse : Logitech combo
- Cabinet : Any
- Power Supply : Zebronics 400W
- Optical Drive : LiteON LH-20-A1H 20x DVD Writer
- Speakers : Creative 2.1 speakers
The total price for this configuration comes to around 18k bucks. You can reduce it by another 3k by going in for a CRT monitor instead of a LCD one.
I don’t think it is worth spending money on any configuration lesser than this.

The latest generation of CPUs are quad core processors after the hugely successful Core2Duo series.
So if you want the latest Intel processor then go for Intel Core2Quad series.
